Thoughts on Paper
Thoughts on Paper
This project takes the problematic fear of the blank page and literally sheds light on it – like firing synapses quick flashes of light are shone through valleys, crevices and corners of crumpled photographic paper and recorded as shadows. Our brains make sense of these dark shapes, each of us recognising different images and forming stories from otherwise meaningless abstraction on a single page; blank no longer.
The creation process is almost accidental but knowledge of the material and light allows some control and strategy to be used. We can school our thoughts to form conscious ideas but not control every thought that enters our heads.
