30/30 ART AUCTION
Involuntary Sculpture
Encased in a frame like an artefact, this organic structure appears to brim with life as the thick plant-life forms a round shape, mimicking our Earth. Stitched together images of intense sharpness bring every detail in focus so we are forced to notice.
The dried-out seaweed with its bone-coloured beige and dried dark brown is rapidly overtaking the patches of green living plants in much the same way that the precious patches of habitat for pollinators are diminishing.
Life is a balance – the hard, heavy weight and glinting dangerousness of the developments in modern life pulls down on the living habitats that sustain our ecosystems, threatening to overpower it despite differences in scale. Small decisions can have big impacts on the natural world.
