This is My Graffiti

The work explores the concept of human mark-making. I have collected peels of paint from the street graffiti in Brick Lane, London. In the process, the peels have been photographed in the highest resolution to capture and take pleasure in looking at a section of something that has been so loud and hectic when viewed in the street environment. The photographs also reveal the layers of time and the years of people repainting and painting again over the artworks.
This creates an interesting connection between the freedom of the street and the way the lives of many people overlap through movement, creativity, culture, and
other human aspects of being in the space. Street art is a beautiful example of all these human aspects overlapping. The photographic series attempts to take a piece of the street and make it yours with the title “This is My Graffiti.”
